Be a Part of Ottawa’s Renaissance: Vote Now, Vote Daily, Tell A Friend

Do you care about Ottawa professional theatre?

Do you want to help the Ottawa Theatre Network and the Great Canadian Theatre Company make a lasting contribution to Ottawa professional theatre?

Here’s you chance! It will only take a few minutes of your time. We promise.

The Ottawa Theatre Network, with the support of the Great Canadian Theatre Company, has a great opportunity to secure $10,000 – $50,000 for a project that will make a lasting contribution to the growth of Ottawa professional theatre.

You can help by taking a few minutes to cast a vote.

This is what you do:

Step 1: Read our Aviva Community Fund Proposal, by clicking here.

Step 2: Support us, by clicking on the large blue “cast a vote button” on the right hand side of the screen.

Step 3: Register. It only takes seconds. You provide an email address, a password, and a screen name. If you want, you can ask that they not send you any other emails, other than the initial registration email — just uncheck the boxes under “notifications.”

Step 4: Vote each day! Return to our fund proposal page everyday and vote again.

Step 5: Email a friend and ask them to vote.

If we can get enough votes, we will advance to the semi-finals and a second round of voting will take place. When we make it through to the finals, a panel of judges will assess our proposal.

Because there will be twenty-five finalists and because the fine folks at the GCTC will be handling the nuts and bolts of the proposal, we know we have a great shot at securing the funding when we make it to the finals.

We can only make it to the finals with your help!

So please show your support for Ottawa professional Theatre and vote! If we can make it to the semi-finals on this first round, we won’t need to vote again until December!

P.s. You don’t need to live in Ottawa to vote!

It’s round two now and we intend to keep it up!!!

    K xo

  4. We had a pretty awesome first round run. A big thanks to everyone who helped.

And there must have been a lot of you! Because after just a few days of spreading the word, we were just shy of 600 votes in support of Ottawa professional theatre. Late Sunday evening we were ranked in the top 50 of over more than 800 funding proposals.

More importantly, people have been talking about the Ottawa Theatre Network and Ottawa professional theatre more than ever — and all across the world. Yes, thanks to the power of social media, I know for a fact that we had people promoting us across the country, in the United States and in the UK. Not bad, eh.

Round two is on! If we build on the success of the past couple days, we have a good chance to make it to the semi-finals.

Please remember, this isn’t just about getting votes. It’s about discussing, promoting, and supporting professional theatre in Ottawa. Scenes come alive when people care enough to talk to each other about what’s happening ! Let’s get our buzz on!

  5. The Ottawa Citizen has come out strongly in favour of our proposal!

    They write:

“The competition is still only in the second of three opening rounds, but one thing is clear already: Ottawans are full of great ideas. It seems they were just waiting to be asked. There are dozens of ideas from Ottawa and the surrounding region on the website. And these aren’t just pie-in-the-sky musings. Most are concrete, thoughtful proposals.

There’s one from the Great Canadian Theatre Company and the Ottawa Theatre Network, who have determined that “one of the greatest obstacles to growth of the Ottawa theatre scene is a lack of professional development opportunities in all aspects of theatre.” They’d like to fix that.”
